Olympic Torch Relay |Aldergrove BC|m

On Monday the Olympic Torch Relay ran through our little town of Aldergrove. It was a very exciting day for my girls as their whole school made red plastic ponchos to wear at while they watched the torch go by. I was a little skeptical on how the entire school was going to safely walk 5 blocks over to the torch route, but it went really well. We were there about 45 minutes early and everyone waited very patiently.

I can still remember seeing the torch run through Aldergrove in 1988 (yes, I still live in the same town). My neighbour took her kids and my sister and I down to see it go by. I can remember it went by very quickly and it was the same feeling on Monday. I have to be honest, between having my son on my shoulders and trying to take pictures with his up there, I didn't get a warm patriotic feeling as the torch went by. But I am so glad I got to experience it and our town was a sea of red and that was pretty spectacular too!

I have been an Olympic skeptic all along, but now the party is here, so I am going to enjoy it! My daughter says she can't wait to watch the Olympics and after hearing all the rumours floating around about tomorrow's opening ceremonies, I can't wait either!

So here are some images, ok a lot of images, I hope you enjoy them!

I love these mittens! I wish Santa had brought me a pair too.

This gentleman kept things light and fun. Playing O Canada and various other fun tunes!

Red for miles!

The torch was finally on its way! I don't know the name of the man who carried it unfortunately.
