Happy Olympics Day!

Well today is the day! The opening of the Olympics! I have been watching the last leg of the torch run all day and feeling very proud of my country and also, I love watching history being made. Even though the first day has been marked with a terrible Luge tragidey, I am hopeful the rest of the Olympics are here! So let's enjoy them, there's nothing stopping them now!

Oh and before I get to my really long post about our walk around Vancouver last week, I have to share this cute story about my son. We were going out this morning and I put on his red Olympic mittens. We had been watching the torch all morning and when his mittens went on, he said to me, "hold fire now Momma? Please? Hold fire like other guys?" I was blown back that he made that association of the mittens with the Olympic torch. He's 2 1/2 I should add.

Ok so onto this monster post. Last week my family and I went for a walk around downtown Vancouver. We wanted to check out the city before the world arrived. It was a beautiful day, 12 degrees and it was just the perfect day to go. It was very quite on a lot of streets as they were already closed to traffic and to my surprise, not a lot of people around. Well down at Canada Place that was. When we got up to Robson street it was crawling with people.

Please remember, you can click on the image to see a larger version. ENJOY!!

Warm weather is brining the tree buds!

What's a walk on Robson without a stop at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for delicious candy apples!

There were 3 of these floral panels hanging at the Art Gallery. Amazing and beautiful and maybe they'll will let me have them when they are done? LOL!

The Olympic Countdown Clock, its taken a few beatings over the years, but here we are 6 days before the games and it looks shiny and new! And we preserved a memory in our own family history in front of it!

There are eagles all around the city with all kinds of art work on it. For some reason, my son was compelled to kiss this one.

Canada Place
We couldn't get anywhere near the sails as it was all fenced off.

I'm so glad we had this chance to go and see the city, the next day it rained. I'm not sure if we'll go downtown again while the games are on. There are some pretty neat free events happening. But I am also happy to watch it all from my living room!

GO CANADA GO!!!
